The estimated economic and job losses include both direct construction jobs and jobs lost indirectly through the reduction in the work force. That includes jobs that would've been created within commercial developments and the loss of regional income in the form of homeowners who pay flood insurance premiums. Those figures take into account the slowing economy, said Dennis Rogers, senior vice president for governmental and public affairs for the North State Building Industry Associations, which announced the findings Tuesday.
