A Year of Eco-exhibitions
The 2007-08 season is a year of "Eco-exhibitions" at the UC Davis Design Museum. Each exhibition follows design themes associated with environmental stewardship and social issues. The exhibit construction, installation, and museum operations will incorporate green design, sustainable practice, and design research. Supported in part by the Campus Sustainability Grant Program.
75 YEARS OF DESIGN!
As UC Davis celebrates its much-anticipated centennial anniversary, the Design Program approaches a significant milestone of its own: 75 Years of Design at UC Davis. For the 2008/09 exhibition season, the DESIGN MUSEUM presents three unique exhibitions, two of which highlight the UC Davis Design Collection and its long standing history of preserving design from across the globe. In addition to the exhibitions, beginning with the museum brochure (available at the museum or by request), the museum presents TRANS-4-MATIONS, a four-part research project delving into the personal stories and institutional history that has contributed to the growth of the Design Program from its beginnings in the Department of Home Economics, to emerging as the most diverse free-standing Design Program in the University of California. This exciting year features unique exhibitions, great designers, and a newly founded speaker series.
We welcome you to join us in celebrating Design!
Our Commitment
The UC Davis Design Museum has been invited to be a founding adopter of the Green Museums Accord. The Accord is a set of five principles that serve as a catalyst for museums to become environmental leaders. Museums will have the opportunity to sign up for the Accord in early 2009. It is affiliated with the Green Museums Initiative and supported by the California Association of Museums. More information will be available in the coming months.
